Another Express Entry draw took place on September 2. In the Express Entry 162, IRCC sent a total of 4200 Invitations to Apply for candidates registered for the Federal Skilled Workers Program.
The lowest CRS score required to receive an invitation in the last round was 475. The recent invitation round saw a 21 points increase in CRS score compared to the previous Express Entry draw, which took place on August 19.
The increase in the Comprehensive Ranking System score is related to the increased number of new applicants registered in the pool during the last month, when Canada conducted an all-program draw on August 5.
After the closure of borders, due to the COVID-19 crisis, in March 2020, IRCC regularly held program-specific Express Entry rounds.
This year is turning out to be a record year for Express Entry despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Canada has now issued 69,950 ITAs in 2020, the largest number of invitations issued on this day in comparison to any other year since the introduction of Express Entry 2015.
These program-specific selection rounds have been conducted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) since the COVID-19 pandemic led Canada’s border to close in March. CEC specific rounds took place shortly Provincial Nominee Program draws (PNP), and the number of ITAs from the two draws together adds up to a round number.
Since the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada continues to issue a larger number of invitations, we might see the CRS score to decrease in the upcoming draws.
In order for CRS cut-off score to decrease significantly, the draws are needed to take place in shorter periods of time, which means fewer applicants have time to enter a profile in the pool.
The Express Entry program manages the three streams of Canadain economic-class immigration pathway, which are the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.
After successfully creating their profiles in the pool, candidates are ranked based on their score they gave according to certain ranking factors, such as age, education, skilled work experience, and their language skills in either English or Frensch.
Later, through the regular draw, which is generally taking place twice per month, a set of highest-ranking candidates receive invitations to submit an application for Canadian permanent residence. Usually, permanent residence applications are processed in 6 months.

Its quite pleasing to see that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada still issues invitations. Although the coronavirus crisis limited ITA’s, which therefore were issued mainly for PNP and CEC applicants, we are glad to see that from July 2020, the Government of Canada also started to send invitations to candidates living outside of Canada.
Usually, once in every two weeks, the Federal Government of Canada conducts its regular Express Entry draw. In every invitation round or draw, the new CRS cut-off score determines the number of lowest-ranking candidates who receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Successful candidates, who receive ITA’s, then have 60 days to apply a complete immigration application to finalize their submission for Canadian PR.
Canada Express Entry draw manages and supports quick processing of applications of immigration candidates which, in turn, creates better economic outcomes for Canada through various immigration programs under the federal and certain provincial programs.
Candidates who are eligible for certain criteria set by the system create a profile in the Express Entry program which is also known as an Expression of Interest and apply for the immigration program.

There are many variables that control the level of the CRS score cut-off. Therefore, no one cant clearly state how the next score is going to change in future rounds to take place in 2020.
However, by looking at some available data we can analyze the possible future outcomes for the upcoming Canada Federal EE draws this year.
In fact, the Canada Express Entry program is becoming more and more popular immigration program, which we can easily say by looking at the statistics in every round. This increase in its popularity surely contributes to the increase in CRS scores too. The competitiveness of the situation brings the score to all-time highs in every draw.
However, if a certain scenario takes place, then we can see the CRS score drops below 450. So, in order to this happen, all of the 21,116 immigration applicants who have more than 450 points need to receive ITA’s and exit the pool.
In addition, this scenario would need to happen well before the new applicants count register in the pool to take have a rank. Although this prediction seems not to be happening anytime in the future soon, we have seen some surprises with Express Entry draws in past history since 2015.
The first Canada Express Entry draw of this year was kicked off with an impressive style, creating 3900 invitations to apply for permanent residence candidates who had CRS score lower than 449.
This was the second-highest number of invitations issued in this year so far, and this can indicate that the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) might break last year’s invitations records of 89,800 ITA in 2020.
The CRS score benchmarks the points of immigration candidates determining a base score out of 1200. It ranks the applicants against one another based on their CRS points and is a part of the Canada Express Entry program which started by Canada in 2015.
The systems use the score as a cut-off point during regular Federal Express Entry draws. It defines an applicant’s likelihood of being economically successful in Canada.
A good CRS score nowadays would be to have more than 500 points, which seems to give the best chances to get invited.
If you want to apply and be ranked against other candidates, you need to be eligible for at least one of the programs handled in the system. Please also note that you can significantly increase your CRS score and get invited in the subsequent Express Entry draw by having nominated one of the provinces in Canada through the Provincial Nomination Programs. Because of the PNP program nomination awards you an additional of 600 points towards your CRS score.
However, even without having a nomination, your profile alone can earn you a high CRS score depending on certain factors. For example, you can get 260 points for being proficient either in English or French. You can also see how much IELTS score you need for certain immigration programs by following this link.

Canada Express Entry draw dates
The Federal Express Entry draw dates usually are not publicly announced. Therefore, it is hard to expect the exact date for rounds of invitations. However, by looking at the common pattern until now, we can see that it tends to take place once in two weeks on Wednesdays. Nevertheless, there can still be a longer or shorter gap between one draw and the subsequent draw.
Express Entry rounds of invitation
In every round of invitation, Canada sends ITA to the immigration candidates in the pool who are chosen by IRCC for permanent residence. Since all invitations are issued on a priority basis from the Federal Express Entry pool, only the applicants on how to have the highest CRS score are invited in each round.
If you want to register a profile in the Express Entry program, you need previously to know if you are eligible as a candidate. You can easily determine your eligibility by taking our free immigration assessment test which maps your profile based on the information you provide.
The better your profile is in terms of education, age, language proficiency, and work experience, the higher your chances are to receive invitations for permanent residence.
