Have you completed your studies later?
When you realize that your studies in Canada will last beyond the expiry date of your permit, you must apply for the extension a minimum of 30 days before your current study permit expires. Else, you will lose your status in Canada. In case if you forget to renew your permit you may still apply to reinstate your status as a student. However, you must apply to restore your permit within 90 days of losing your status. In addition, if the school you are studying at, is not a DLI (Designated Learning Institution) you cannot apply for the extension for the current study permit.

In general, the online application takes approximately 32 days to complete, whereas on the paper-based application you will need to wait up to 94 days. Depending on which method you follow to extend your study permit the average processing time may vary.
