Canada Will Accept Incomplete Study Permit Applications
If your study permit or PGWP application is incomplete, Canada will still allow to processing of the application. According to the latest updates made by IRCC, international students will be allowed to benefit from this flexibility for an incomplete study permit and Post-Graduation Work Permit applications.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some international students wishing to study in Canada this fall, cant submit all the necessary documentation. Therefore, Canada will keep its files open until they are able to provide all paperwork.
Many application centers around the globe have been closed or limited their operations due to the coronavirus crisis. This results in many studies permit applications to become incomplete due to the lack of essential components of the application, such as biometrics, providing original travel documents, and as well as medical examinations.
Considering all these circumstances, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada says they will continue to accept incomplete study permit applications that are missing certain required documents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, Canada will keep incomplete study permit and PGWP applications of international students open and will require them to provide the missing documents or demonstrate that they have taken necessary actions to obtain that paperwork.
You can work before your Post-Graduation Work Permit application is approved
The temporary modifications will also applied to PGWP candidates whose letter of completion is missing due to the closure of a DLI. If you have applied to get PGWP before your student permit expires, you may be allowed to start working in Canada full-time until they get the final decision on their application.
However, still, you will be required to provide a letter explaining and indicating that you are unable to submit all the documents due to the closure of your educational institution.
When you are able to obtain the documents, you can then submit them through the web form using the IRCC online tool.
Besides, if you don’t have the letter of completion of the final script, IRCC now allows you to restore your status. However, you cant work during your application to restore the status is processed.
Part-time status will not impact the qualification of PGWP
COVID-19 pandemic has caused health and social distancing restrictions, which forced Canadian post-secondary institutions to close or cancel their classes. This might have also lead to international students to put their studies on hold or study pert-time.
The latest flexibility announced by IRCC is also applied to then your status changes from full-time to part-time due to the changes in the programming at your Designated Learning Institution for the winter and summer 2020 semesters, you will still be considered as qualified for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
Having PGWP following your studies in Canada is essential since it allows international students to get Canadain valuable work experience, which makes graduates to become eligible for more immigration programs under the streams of the Express Entry system and as well as the PNP’s.
