New Brunswick declares its Internationally Educated Nurses strategy
In order to fill the vacant nurse positions in New Brunswick, the province has announced its Nursing Resource Strategy. There are a number of actions that are planned to be taken in order to address the current shortage of nurses during the upcoming 10 years. Under the newly introduced program, New Brunswick will actively begin to recruit internationally educated nurses which will help them to integrate into the province’s labor force.
According to the report, New Brunswick is going to open 4,376 registered nurse jobs over the next 10 years. The province stated that the main reason for launching such a program is originating from the lower nursing program enrollment and as well as an aging provincial population.
In addition, it is important to note that, New Brunswick is not the only
province that faces a lack of nursing professionals. In fact, according to the Canadian Nurses Association, Canada is going to experience an extreme shortage in nurses during the upcoming years. CNA research shows a shortage of 60,000 nurses by the year 2022.
International Educated Nurses
The government of Brunswick has implemented the Nursing Resource Strategy to meed the demands of the province’s nurse shortage. In one of the many measures described to be taken in its policy, the government says that the key target is to attract and accommodate internationally educated nurses.
The Atlantic province is committed to partnering with the other countries with nursing educational programs of similar professional standards. In addition, current barriers which prevent faster processing will be eliminated by the improvements to the registration requirements and application procedure.
