Ontario issued invitations to Express Entry applicants
The Government of Ontario invited skilled trades workers in the Express Entry system through another Provincial Nominee Program draw, which took place on June 17.
758 invitations were issued through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program to applicants who may be qualified for the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream. The draw was the largest since January 18, 2018, in terms of the number of invited candidates in a single round.
To be qualified for the selection, applicants needed to have a work experience as a tradesperson and as well as an active profile in the Express Entry pool. In addition, a minimum CRS score between 400 and 436 was also a requirement.
Canada handles its three economic-class immigration programs, which are Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class, through the Express Entry application management system, which was first introduced in 2015.
Based on certain factors, such as age, skilled work experience, language skills, and as well as educational background, Express Entry candidates are rewarded a score over the Comprehensive Ranking System.
Generally, candidates with a Notification of Interest (NOI) at hand or invitation from the province of Ontario, successfully get a provincial nomination and add an additional 600 points towards their CRS score.
This, in turn, effectively guarantees to receive an Invitation to Apply for Canadian permanent residence in one of the subsequent Express Entry draws, which take place about twice per month.
As of now, Skilled Trades Stream saw a total of 948 applicants invited by the OINP. Another similar draw, which was held in April, targeted candidates in specific trades occupations.
This was the second Ontario draw that takes place in this month. Previously, Ontario issued invitations with the CRS score requirement as low as 358.
In 2020 Ontario’s allocation for the principal candidates in 7600. It also contains 250 nominations for temporary workers Ontario at intermediate skilled occupations or individuals with NOC skill level C.
In 2019, Ontario invites more than 7000 PNP candidates who were in the Express Entry pool, which accounted for more than half of its total allocation. If you are invited, then you may be qualified for a provincial nomination certificate under the Express Entry Trades Stream.
