Saskatchewan invites Express Entry candidates
Saskatchewan targets Express Entry, Occupation In-Demand candidates
In a new selection round which was on March 6, Saskatchewan sent 138 invitations to Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand applicants. This opens a pathway for the candidates to apply for a provincial nomination and to become a permanent resident.
Of all 138 invitations sent, 70 candidates received invitations through Saskatchewan’s Express Entry sub-category. However, Occupation In-Demand sub-category applicants have received 68 invitations. Skilled worker applicants who have a profile in the federal Express Entry system can receive a nomination by Saskatchewan’s Express Entry sub-category. Accordingly, having nominated by a province gives an additional 600 points toward a candidate’s CRS score. And this in turn, effectively secures an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
How to apply?
Those who wish to receive a provincial nomination using Saskatchewan Express Entry or Occupation In-Demand sub-category, first need to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the Saskatchewan immigration Nominee Program (SINP). Candidates need to fill in information regarding their education, work experience, language proficiency and etc. while creating their profile. After creation of the profile, candidates get a score. The score they receive depends on several factors. This includes their education, skilled work experience, proficiency in English or French and connections to Saskatchewan and etc.
Please note that it is necessary for candidates both in Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories to have work experience. Required work experience must be in a high-skilled profession on Saskatchewan’s In-Demand Occupation List.
Later, in regular draws, a set of candidates in both sub-categories with the highest score receives invitations to apply for a permanent residence.
The candidate with the lowest score invited on March 6 through SINP’s Express Entry sub-category had 67 points. Meanwhile, the lowest-ranked applicant who received an invitation to apply under In-Demand Occupation sub-category had 81 points.
