Sudbury’s First Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot Draw
Sudbury becomes the first city included under the RNIP program to conduct a selection draw. Each participating city in the pilot program has the freedom and flexibility to choose how applicants are selected.
In its first draw through the Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), Sudbury invited 6 candidates. The draw took place on April 23rd, 2020, and the lowest ranking candidate receiving an invitation to apply had 280 points.
In the first round, registered applicants are ranked in a pool through a points-based system similar to Canada federal Express Entry system.
In addition, as Express Entry draws, the city of Sudbury applies a tie-breaking rule for its first draw, based on a cut-off date of April 15, 2020 at 4.28 pm.
In case that more than one applicant has the lowest score to be selected, the cut-off threshold is based on the date and time they submitted their application.
